A Multicultural Catholic Wedding in Phuket: Rose & José at St. Joseph Church

Based in Dubai, Rose and José brought together an extraordinary mix of cultures and backgrounds. Rose is from the Philippines, José from Peru, and their life together has unfolded in the UAE. When it came time to marry, they wanted a destination that could bring everyone together, somewhere beautiful yet grounded in tradition.

Their families traveled from the Philippines and Peru to witness the ceremony, while close friends flew in from across the world. Phuket became the meeting point, not just geographically, but emotionally, a place where their worlds could come together.

The Catholic wedding ceremony took place at St. Joseph Church in Cherngtalay, in the presence of family and friends, as Rose and José received the Sacrament of Matrimony. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows, spoken with emotion and intention. One especially memorable moment was when Rose shared part of her vow in Spanish, a beautiful nod to José’s Peruvian heritage that moved both families and guests alike. The ceremony concluded with the couple being joyfully sent out of the church as husband and wife, marking the beginning of their married life together.

As Rose and José exited St. Joseph Church as husband and wife, guests lined up outside to throw dried rice, a tradition deeply rooted in many cultures, particularly in Latin America. The act of throwing rice symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and good luck, blessings for abundance and a fruitful life together. This simple yet powerful moment marked the official close of the Catholic ceremony. Surrounded by family and friends from across the world, the couple stepped into their married life with joy, laughter, and heartfelt celebration.

After the church ceremony, the day continued with a dinner reception at Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, which we’ll be sharing in a separate post.

A Day to Remember, Planned with Phuket Romance

Rose and José’s wedding was a Catholic destination wedding in Phuket shaped by intention, faith, and thoughtful planning. With guests traveling from the Philippines, Peru, Europe, and the Middle East, the celebration required experience, sensitivity, and careful coordination.

Our role was to take care of the details behind the scenes, so Rose and José could be fully present on the day they became husband and wife.
