10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

I was born in the central region while my parents were working there. However, during high school, I moved back to the South, frequently traveling between Krabi, Phang Nga, and Phuket. I spent my middle school years in Krabi province, which is why Krabi holds a special place in my heart.

When did you first move to Phuket and why?

After completing my studies in Bangkok, I made the decision to return to Phuket to be closer to my family and establish my own roots in a familiar and comforting environment. The bustling nature of Bangkok did not align with my personal preferences, and the serene and laid-back atmosphere of Phuket beckoned me back. At one point, my wife and I had a plan to relocate to the UK in pursuit of better career opportunities, especially considering the future of our young son. However, our plans took an unexpected turn so we decided to stay and build our lives here in Phuket. Now, with two delightful children, our lives are enriched by the peaceful and idyllic surroundings of Phuket. The island's favorable climate, the relaxed pace of life compared to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, coupled with the presence of excellent educational institutions, have all contributed to fostering a sense of contentment and fulfillment in our family life.

What inspired your choice of becoming a wedding photographer?

Becoming a wedding photographer wasn't just a career choice for me—it was a door to meeting people from all over and learning from them. Talking to clients from different countries gives me new ways to think about life, gaining glimpses into various life philosophies with each conversation. Plus, the job offers me the incredible opportunity to travel to stunning locations, capturing love stories against breathtaking backdrops. Working with my team is always a blast; they're like a second family to me. Overall, being a wedding photographer isn't just about taking pictures; it's about enjoying the connections between people and discovering new places.

What is your favorite moment to capture during a wedding?

It's tough to pick just one favorite moment during a wedding; I'd say it's a tie between the speeches and the after-party. During the speeches, whether it's the parents or friends of the couple taking the mic, it's always a special moment. Sometimes it's filled with laughter, other times it brings tears, but each speech is a heartfelt expression of love for the newlyweds. It's incredibly touching to witness. Then comes the after-party, where the atmosphere shifts to pure fun. I love capturing those moments of joy and celebration as everyone lets loose on the dance floor. And you know what? I'm not just behind the camera for those moments—I'm right there with them, dancing and having a blast. It's all part of the magic of being a wedding photographer.

Is there any photographer or artist who greatly influenced your style?

I really admire the work of two studios: Fire and Ice from the UK, and Mayad Studio from the Philippines. They're both big names in wedding photography, and they take on projects all over the world. Seeing their photos and videos has inspired me a lot. They're so good at capturing love in different cultures, and their creative ideas have influenced how I approach my own work. Looking at what they do helps me keep learning and improving as a photographer.

What camera do you prefer to use?

I began my career with Canon, but about 5-6 years back, I made the switch to Sony. These days, I mainly use the Sony A9 and A9 II, which are mirrorless cameras known for their excellent focus capabilities. It's become my go-to for wedding photography.

Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Phuket that you love to shoot at?

My favorite wedding venue in Phuket has to be Baba Nest at Sri Panwa. It's simply stunning with its breathtaking views. The lighting is always just right, creating the perfect ambiance for capturing those magical moments. Plus, the accommodations are gorgeous, which makes it a breeze to capture those lovely getting-ready scenes of the bride. What's more, the hotel staff are incredibly helpful and supportive, ensuring everything runs smoothly on the big day. It's truly a dream location for any wedding photographer. Another venue that holds a special place in my heart is COMO Point Yamu. Its stunning architecture provides the perfect backdrop for bridal photos. The lines and angles of the buildings create captivating compositions, adding an extra layer of elegance to the wedding album.

Can you recall a particularly memorable or special wedding you have photographed?

One wedding that stands out in my memory is that of a Canadian couple about 6-7 years ago. They were both passionate about living an active lifestyle. What made their wedding truly special was the way they turned it into a week-long celebration of love and adventure in Thailand. They invited all 60 of their guests to join them in various activities across Pattaya, Krabi, Bangkok, and Phuket leading up to their big day. From cooking classes to dance lessons where everyone learned the routine to Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," to exhilarating rock climbing adventures, every moment was filled with joy and excitement. I was fortunate enough to be there from the very beginning until the last dance of their wedding celebration. Throughout the week, I not only captured their love and happiness but also became friends with the couple and their guests. Even years later, I still keep in touch with some of them.

If you could go back to any time in history, what famous wedding would you like to photograph?

If I could turn back time to photograph any wedding, it would be Dan Bilzerian's. While it may not be a historically significant event, it's certainly intriguing given his public persona. Dan Bilzerian is known for his lavish lifestyle and reputation as a playboy, so capturing his wedding would offer a unique perspective. It would be fascinating to witness him in a different light, showcasing his romantic side and embarking on a new chapter of life with his wife. The contrast between his public image and the intimacy of a wedding ceremony would make for some captivating photographs, capturing the essence of love and commitment in unexpected ways.

Lastly, what advice would you give to couples when preparing for their wedding day?

My advice to couples planning for their wedding day is to seriously consider hiring a wedding planner or organizer. By offloading responsibilities to a professional, you know that everything is being taken care of seamlessly behind the scene so you're free to immerse yourselves fully in the joyous moments without the burden of stress. Remember, your emotions on your big day will be immortalized in those precious moments captured by the camera and having a wedding planner allowing your genuine happiness to shine through in every photograph.
