10 Questions

Could you tell us about your hometown and any other places that hold a place in your heart?

I was born in Thap Put District, Phang Nga where my childhood was surrounded by nature. I'd often roam the forests, chasing adventures, fishing in nearby swamps for shrimp and fish, and enjoying the tranquility of mangrove forests. I then moved to Pattani when I was 18 for a degree in Communication Arts at Prince of Songkla University. It was there that I not only gained academic knowledge but also learned about invaluable life lessons from my mentors. This period nurtured in me a profound appreciation for life and slowly developed my skills in photography.

When did you first move to Phuket and why?

I made the move to Phuket over a decade ago, right after completing my graduation. Fuelled by my passion for photography and armed with a degree in communication arts, I was drawn to Phuket's vibrant scene, seeing it as a promising hub for my chosen career path. Shortly after arriving, I landed a role at a wedding studio, where I honed my craft further. Over the years, I've also had the opportunity to work in various capacities within hotels and marketing agencies, where my photography skills have been highly valued.

What inspired your choice of becoming a wedding photographer?

The inspiration behind my decision to become a wedding photographer arises from the joy and love I witness on a daily basis. It's a remarkably fortunate profession where I'm immersed in celebrations of love and happiness, and it profoundly impacts how I view relationships with those around me. During my time at the wedding studio, particularly through pre-wedding photoshoots, I had the privilege of capturing the sheer bliss of couples about to embark on their journey together. Their happiness resonates with me, inspires me with positivity and excitement that fuels my passion to wake up each day and pursue this career.

What is your favorite moment to capture during a wedding?

My absolute favorite moment to capture during a wedding is undoubtedly the "First Look" when the groom sets eyes on his bride adorned in white for the very first time. It's an incredibly moving moment filled with raw emotion and genuine vulnerability. I find myself drawn to the groom's eyes, which often reflect anticipation, excitement, and above all, overwhelming love. There have been occasions where I've become so captivated in the moment, so deeply touched by the intensity of their connection, that I momentarily forget to snap the shot. However, I assure you, my dedication to preserving these precious memories is unwavering, and I am committed to ensuring that every tender moment is beautifully captured.

Is there any photographer or artist who greatly influenced your style?

While I don't have a specific individual photographer who has profoundly shaped my style, I find inspiration from work created by numerous talented photographers based in Hong Kong. Their elegant and contemporary approach to wedding photography has left an impression on me, influencing the aesthetic direction of my own work. Additionally, my appreciation for art extends beyond photography. I love exploring abstract art—it's another way I find inspiration and creativity in my visual storytelling.

What camera do you prefer to use?

I prefer using SONY cameras for wedding photography. Their advanced features, particularly the high-speed shutter and focus capabilities, enable me to capture those dynamic moments that are the nature of weddings. I currently use the SONY A9 and it has been a game-changer for capturing those precious moments with its exceptional performance in high-speed shooting and autofocus accuracy.

Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Phuket that you love to shoot at?

Phuket has so many breathtaking wedding venues, each with its own unique charm. However, if I were to choose a favorite, it would undoubtedly be Jia at Jivana Beach Villas on Natai Beach. The pristine sands, coconut trees, clear water and tranquil ambiance create a picturesque tropical charm that's perfect for a memorable intimate wedding celebration.

Can you recall a particularly memorable or special wedding you have photographed?

One particularly memorable wedding I photographed was when the bride fell ill just hours before the ceremony. Despite the unexpected setback, what unfolded was a beautiful story of love in another angle. Guests, families, friends, wedding team, venue staff, and vendors all came together to postpone the wedding to the next day. It was incredibly touching to witness the outpouring of support and dedication to ensuring the couple's special day could still be celebrated. Moments like these remind me why I'm passionate about capturing weddings. More than the stunning visuals, it's the raw emotions and shared experiences that truly make each wedding unique and unforgettable.

If you could go back to any time in history, what famous wedding would you like to photograph?

While there are many famous weddings throughout history that would undoubtedly be fascinating to photograph, I would love to photograph my parents' wedding. It's not famous in the traditional sense, but it’s meaningful to me because it symbolizes the beginning of their journey together. However, there's a bittersweet realization that I wouldn't be present in the family group shot but behind the lens.

Lastly, what advice would you give to couples when preparing for their wedding day?

My advice to couples preparing for their wedding day is to be present in the moment. Enjoy yourselves and feel the love and support from each other and your loved ones who are there to celebrate with you. Let your wedding team handle the day and worries, so you can just focus on being happy. Your wedding photos will capture these joyful moments, so try to be as happy as you can be on your big day!
